Bridge - Introduction to the game. Bridge is a game of 4 players. Played at a square bridge table. Preferrably with a green cloth....
The cards are shuffled and dealt. One card at a time starting with the player to the left of the dealer. 13 cards for each player.
The cars are sorted in suits and order. To evaluate your hand the following point scale is used
Additionally most players add distribution points. In case you have no card in a suit, you can add 2 points. In case you have only one card in a suit, add 1 point. Hereafter the bidding goes on. The dealer bids first, and then the player to his left. When there are three passes, the highest bidder has the contract. The player ti his left lead to the play of he cards.
After the initial opening lead, the partner of the declarer puts his cards face down. These cars are now controlled by the declarere also. The hand face down is called the dummy.
The players play a card in turn to the trick. In case you don't have any card in the suit lead, you may discard any card you want. If a trump is declared you may also trump the trick, thereby taking the trick.
In the bidding you add 6 tricks to the level you bid to count the number of needed tricks. One spade means seven tricks. Three spades means nine tricks. Dependent of the tournament form various scores are assigned to the contract.
